Battery Roller Blinds: My Latest Obsession

This blog is to detail my latest home gadget craze – battery operated roller blinds! Keep an eye on my Instagram (LINKED HERE) for a reel to show them in action.

I wanted roller blinds for the front bedrooms so they could be fully open during the day and not hide my beloved windows. I decided this style was the best option for showcasing the bars (upstairs and downstairs are different styles)

I enjoy the option of black out far more than I expected. I keep it at a setting of 5% above the bottom of the window to allow some natural light which is great to have both options and the flexibility to automatically set it to varying degrees.

You can also buy a sheer version and the range to pick from is HUGE in terms of colours too. You can order free samples which is very handy!

Originally, I intended on buying a regular roller but then I came across these and was obsessed with the idea. I LOVE a home gadget and this has surpassed my expectations. I love it even more than I thought I would because of the timers you can set and the ease of App use.

I have it preset to go down before bed, so it is private of an evening when I walk into the bedroom. I then have it come up with our morning alarms. This helps us wake up and another lovely option is to open with the sunrise! I genuinely find it all SO clever.

You can alter the times or days for any of the settings so it is totally flexible as well as super user-friendly on the app.

Even better, the setup was far easier than any of my usual home gadgets- it connected right away and was pre-set by the factory. It was genuinely so straight-forward.

I opted to have a remote as well as the App, more so for the guest bedroom. However, for myself, I just use the App as it is so easy. A downside of many competitors is that you have to use the remote or pay a lot more for an App option, as well as extra faff during the setup. There is also no limit to the amount of users so you could have a blind in each room and the whole family can control their own individual settings.

For help fitting, the video is pending an update so it shows a similar roller style but it was easy enough to fit and fairly obvious if you are used to DIY in terms of how the brackets sit etc.

The pelmet on the roller gives a really classy finish and it makes the window look so tidy and elegant. You can tell the quality of the product by the weight and the lovely fabric. As mentioned, I was just going to opt for the cheapest rollers I could find as I wasn’t too bothered but I’m genuinely so happy with this style and really relieved to have something that little bit more special. They are still well priced though for what you get! I think it is a case of ‘you get what you pay for’ and it not only looks miles better, it makes our life/routine better too.

They are battery-operated so don’t require hard wiring – huge bonus for rooms that are already decorated. The charging cable is very long too.
